Easy Za'atar Bread Appetizer is a mouthwatering, uniquely flavored flatbread pizza. Made with simple pizza dough, and topped with extra virgin olive oil and Za'atar plus your favorite toppings.
I love the flavors of this Za'atar pizza appetizer. Made with a thin crust pizza crust, olive oil, and Za'atar spice mix #ad, it makes a perfect appetizer. I like to add some of my favorite toppings such as feta cheese, sliced tomatoes, spinach, and bell pepper.
Traditionally, Za'atar bread or manaqish was made in small individual rounds.
For this recipe, the dough is pressed and rolled into a large rectangle that is cut into serving slices right out of the oven.
The ingredients for this recipe can be as simple as a piece of pizza crust or naan bread, Za'atar spice, and extra virgin olive oil.
If you want you can add feta cheese, chopped pepper, tomato, olives, and spinach. But the Za'atar spice mix can carry it on its own with the olive oil.
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
Step 2. Mix extra virgin olive oil and Za'atar Spice mix in a bowl. Spread over the prebaked crust.
Step 3. Add extra toppings or just sprinkle more Za'atar spice over the oil.
I also add a sprinkle of sea salt.
I love using Le Saunier De Carmague which my friend brought back from her travels in France. Just a pinch over the top of the bread accents the flavor of the Za'atar.
