Fit as a Fiddle Life is about balance. Balance with eating a healthy diet most of the time, including regular exercise, working when you need to, and enjoying pastimes when you want to. It's also about enjoying favorite recipes with family and friends. And occasionally enjoying those recipes that leave you wanting another slice and more.
Starting Fit as a Fiddle Life
Starting a recipe blog seemed like a big scary proposition when my husband suggested this adventure.
But, what I found was the more I learned about setting up a website, and writing the more I fell in love with it!
Although I am self-taught, I have always loved to cook. Pies and pastries, homemade bread, homestyle recipes, simple and quick recipes.
I grew up southern with a mom and grandmothers who loved to cook and shared this talent with me. It was a natural transition to share my recipes.
But, as I have grown wiser, I believe that it's crucial to focus on a healthy diet. The Mediterranean diet is a vetted eating plan that uses a reasonable base of focusing on fresh fruit and vegetables, plant-based protein, and healthy fats. No food is completely eliminated. 1
I also believe in the importance of balance and try to follow the 80/20 rule. Pay attention to what and how much you eat 80% of the time and then allow yourself to enjoy some of your favorites, 10-20% of the time. So at Fit as a Fiddle Life look for recipes with a healthy twist. You will also find family favorites that you will love and some you will want another slice and more.
Welcome!
