In 2022, if you are shopping for the best slow cooker, you've probably realized there is a glut of options available on the market. So many slow cookers, in fact, it is overwhelming.
For example, searching for slow cookers on Amazon produces 20 pages of results! Narrowing my search to the top-rated Hamilton Beach cookers narrows the options to over 50. Yikes!
Slow Cooker Features
Slow cookers have come a long way from the round, manual Crock Pots of the 1970s. Now they are available in different shapes, including oval, round, and even square and rectangular.
They also come in a variety of sizes from the 4-quart size for one to two people to 8-quart cookers to accommodate large meals for large families.
Once only available in a manual dial to control temperature. Now you can program, time and temperature to accommodate your recipe and more importantly, your schedule.
Other features include meat probes that track the internal temperature of the meal. This feature helps prevent overcooking of the meal.
Slow cookers have joined other stylish kitchen appliances and are made to blend with stainless steel kitchen appliances.
Although some may come with a theme such as Disney characters or NFL emblems from your favorite team.
This review looks at three Hamilton Beach brand slow cookers. Rated 4 plus stars on Amazon, each has its own unique appeal. All will ship for free from Amazon.
I've also included an Honorable Mention that was highly rated but had limited reviews. I included it because I found its features or functionality appealing.
Pick a Winner?
It's hard to pick a winner.
This is not my first rodeo and I am on my third slow cooker. When we were first married, we received one as a wedding gift. It was a model that had a metal cooker that sat on a heating base. Over time the finish of the cooker wore and the meals I prepared seemed to cook much quicker than predicted.
My next slow cooker had a manual dial for temperature control and did the job. Unfortunately, I washed the crock in the dishwasher and it never cooked correctly again.
My current slow cooker is an All-Clad.
It is programmable and I love it, but it is pricey. For someone just starting out or someone who won't use the slow cooker often, the model may not be practical for everyone's budget.
For this review, I looked at models around $50 -$100 and was surprised at the great features available in that price range. Some models are programmable, which for me is essential.
Really the winner depends on your slow cooker needs. Which will you buy?
