Strain ingredients and add broth to a covered container. Refrigerate overnight.
Remove any hardened fat and discard.
Use broth immediately, refrigerate, or portion into 1 cup portions and freeze.
Tips:
- If using raw beef bones from the butcher, roast in a 500F oven for 30 minutes prior to adding to slow cooker or stockpot.
- If using a stockpot on the stove, simmer at the lowest temperature and watch the fluid level.
- The cooled broth will have a consistency like Jello. It will liquefy as it comes to room temperature.
- If drinking bone broth, season with salt to your taste.
- Save vegetable cuttings in the freezer so they are ready when you make your batch of bone broth.
