Stovetop Lasagna
One-dish lasagna made in a skillet. Tender noodles, garlic over sausage flavored ground beef. Topped with ricotta cheese, and shredded mozarella cheese.

- 16 ounces ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 4 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tsp parsley dried
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp Caraway seed or fennel seed25
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayene pepper
- 8 lasagna noodles
- 25 ounces pasta sauce
- 15 ounces tomatoes petite diced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup Ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp basil sh, chopped
Heat EVOO in skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for 3-5 minutes. Add minced garlic. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add ground turkey to skillet with onions. Use spatula to press turkey into a flat layer in bottom of skillet. Sprinkle turkey with half the spice mix. Let turkey cook undisturbed for 5-7 minutes. Use spatula to turn turkey. Sprinkle with remaining spice mix. Allow to cook over medium low heat for 5-7 minutes and until browned. Use the spatula to break up into bite-sized pieces.
Place lasagna noodles over bottom of pan over turkey. Spread evenly. Break up one to two noodles to place at edges of skillet.
Pour pasta sauce, undrained tomatoes, and water over noodles. Cover and allow to simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Check for noodle tenderness, add an additional 1/2 cup of water as needed. Recover and continue to simmer for up to 10 minutes as needed.
Spoon heaping tablespoons of Ricotta cheese onto the pasta sauce. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese. Cover and heat for an additional 5 minutes to melt cheese.
Heat oven on broil. Uncover skillet and place on top rack of oven. Broil for 5 minutes until cheese is melted and starts to brown. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh, chopped basil. Make portions around dallops of Ricotta cheese.
