- 8 slices Whole wheat bread or whole grain
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cut bread slices into 1-inch cubes. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Spread the bread cubes into a single layer. Place the baking sheet on the bottom rack of the oven. Bake for 15 minutes.
Use a spatula to turn the cubes and return to the oven for 5 minutes. Bake until the cubes are dry and crisp.
Remove the tray from the oven and allow the cubes to cool.
Add dried cubes to the bowl of a food chopper. Pulse and grind several times until the crumbs are a consistent size.
Store crumbs in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
